Devouring leadership training content, articles, blog posts, podcasts, etc. to the point where I wasn’t digesting or practicing any of it.

On Friday, September 24, I was a legal assistant at a huge corporate law firm. 

The following Monday, I was a manager at Canada’s largest home, auto insurance company leading a team of 10+ legal support professionals. After years of winging it, butchering difficult conversations, and trembling my way through meetings, I discovered my leadership values, mission, and vision.

Now, I help people to unlock their full potential and have helped people to land their dream job or be promoted. Senior leaders leverage my big energy and innovative ideas to drive national change in my organization. People who once had a linear career path in mind say “your leadership style has inspired me to want to be a manager.”

How?

I became the manager and leader I always wanted but never had.

I crafted my leadership brand and mission to create authentic, valuable, and memorable experiences for my team that would evoke feelings of happiness, recognition, support, empowerment, achievement, and inspiration.

It’s a simple paradigm I love to talk about because it yanks you off the bottom-line hamster wheel and into a space where you can care deeply about people while continuing to enforce high standards of behaviour.
